The big majority of installed Wind Turbines are HAWT (Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine) and can be classified according to the following crieria:
- If their blades can change the pitch angle.
- Which is the type of electric generator, and how are connected to the Grid
- Induction generator with short circuited rotor winding (squirrel cage)
- Stator directly connected to the Grid.
- Stator connected to a AC/DC + DC/AC Power Electronics chain.
- Induction generator with short circuited rotor winding (squirrel cage)
